Samuel F. Amaral-Gallaway of Yakima, 20 born in Redmond WA on February 6, 1992 was taken home late Thursday night, September 27, 2012. He and a fellow firefighter were returning to their base camp for work the next morning when they had an accident.
Samuel graduated from West Valley High School in 2010. While at WVHS, he loved playing baseball, time with his friends, classes, staff and administration, but most of all his experiences with the West Valley Firefighter Club. The club introduced Samuel to the passion of firefighting and the firefighters brotherhood. Samuel worked as a firefighter with the West Valley Fire Department and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. He made many accomplishments within both organizations. Becoming a sawyer, operator of the chain saw, was a proud moment for him and one of the many achievements his parents treasure. Aside from the firehouse, Samuel was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and hiking. He shared the love of the mountains with family, friends, and his dog Abbey.
Samuel jumped to attention when his pager would sound. Throughout the house we could hear him yell “I got a call!” As he dashed out the door we would all run to wave him safe goodbye.
