Sandra M. Evans, 86, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. She was born on November 5, 1936 in Zeeland, North Dakota to Otto and Martha (Kost) Pfeifer. Her family eventually moved to Yakima, WA where she graduated from Moxee High School in 1955.
She married Larry Evans on October 8th, 1955 and they resided in Yakima all 48 years of their married life. She was a wonderful homemaker and raised their three daughters, Pam, Tam, and Elaine. Sandra was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for many years and currently was a member of Wiley Union Church. She loved supporting her husband with his business, Evans Nursery, and you would many times find her watering a stray flat of petunias and sprucing things up during the summertime. Sandra also loved being a member of the Vintiques Club of Yakima with Larry during the 90’s and took pride in her restored 1966 blue Ford Mustang.
She loved taking trips to Maui with her husband and family, visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and took great pride in keeping her home clean, tidy, and orderly. Sandra loved having a good laugh and was always ready to “go for a taco” at Taco Time with her family or for dinner at George’s Wok and Grill, then maybe a game of Racko and lots of laughs. After her husband passed away in 2003, Sandra moved to Summitview Living Care where she met many friends, loved a good game of beanbag baseball, a rousing game of bingo, putting together puzzles and going on grocery outings with the other residents.
She is survived by her three daughters; Pam Matheny of Yakima; Elaine/Keith Lyon of Trout Creek, MT; Tam/Bill Edmonston of Yakima; six grandchildren: Sarah, Andrea, John, Anna, Laura, and Jessica; great-grandchildren: Harper, Greyson, Hazel, and Sawyer, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry A. Evans; parents, Martha and Otto Pfeifer; two sisters, Lili Ann Lenseigne and Charlene Septka; and two brothers Dennis Pfeifer and Delbert Pfeifer.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Fieldstone Adult Family Home and all of her caregivers and hospice team as well as Pastor Terry Dinsmore of Wiley Union Church.
In lieu of sending flowers, please consider donating to Wiley Union Church Women’s Ministry, P.O. Box 8354 Yakima, WA 98908.
A memorial service will be held at Wiley Union Church, 2711 S. Wiley Rd., Yakima, WA on Saturday, October 28th at 10:00 am and all are welcome to attend.
