

Shirley was born in Junction City, Kansas on May 17, 1921. The family moved to Yakima when she was 13 years old. She met and later married Reinhold Ehlers in 1937 in Yakima. They raised 3 children and were married for 54 wonderful years.
She was an avid gardener and up until last year, still planted her beautiful flowers and yummy veggies. She was a great baker and everyone loved her apple and strawberry-rhubarb pies. At Christmas time, she always made Stollen bread to give to relatives and friends.
In her younger years, she loved hunting for morel mushrooms, fishing and camping.
Her two granddaughters were holding her hands when she passed away.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Carol A. Cox (Jim) and Penny S. Jordan (Gary) both of Yakima; 3 grandchildren, Kelly Cox of CA, Tisha Sroka and Jody Sauls both of Seattle; 8 great-grandchildren ; 5 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Patty Kerslake and a brother Ed Estabrook both of Maple Valley. She also had a dear friend, Elaine Drewniak, who she called her third daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold, son, Roger Ehlers, grandson Darren Cox and 5 siblings.
Her wishes were not to have a funeral.
