Starr E. Hurst, of Yakima, WA, passed away with loved ones surrounding her on April 6, 2016. She was born in Yakima, to Dallas and Ruth Hill on October 27, 1954, and attended West Valley schools for her education.
Part of her work history included 30 years of packing apples and pears at Clasen Fruit, Borton’s, and Jones. Starr also worked two years at the Ahtanum General Store, to name a few.
Starr married Lew Hurst on September 9, 1995. They spent many years doing everything together – a bond that will not be forgotten. Starr collected angels, and had a special room to display them in. Lew and Starr both spent many years enjoying time together in that room, and were always surrounded by all their fur family. She loved her dogs. Other great moments in her life were spent at the beach with Lew, which she loved to do, and could not wait to go again. Starr’s favorite coffee stand was Rush Coffee. They would get many coffees there over the years, and she loved all the girls that worked there. They all knew her well, and would have her order always ready for her! Special times were just running around doing simple things!
Starr was a proud grandparent, and attended all of her granddaughter Shelbee’s horse events. She loved to send special packages to her granddaughter, Shae. Loving wife, mother, and loving “Gammie.” Starr’s greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lew Hurst, and her two children, Aimee Jensen (fiancé Greg Smith) and Beau Jensen; grandchildren, Shelbee Turner, Shae Jensen, and Asy Morrison Jensen; step daughter, Natacia Sabala (Arthur); step grandchildren, Nyssa, Angelica, and Amerika; Starr’s mother, Ruth Hill, and brother, Greg Hill (Julie); mother-in-law, Barbara Hurst, and sister-in-law, Vickie Hurst; and many numerous friends along the way. She will be missed by many!
Starr was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Hill, and her father-in-law, Louis Hurst.
Services and celebration of life will be held at Ahtanum Valley Assembly of God (7803 Ahtanum Rd., Yakima, WA 98903) on April 16, 2016 at 1 pm. Flowers can be sent to the church, and any donations can be made to the church for their generous gift of allowing us to celebrate Starr’s life there.
