It was just another lovely summer day in Renville County, North Dakota when God sent a beautiful ray of sunshine to Guy and Arabella Robb. The day was the second of July 1934 and Stella Marie was born. She joined her three brothers, Floyd, Larry and Mike to make their family complete. Stella’s father died when she was seven and she and her mother moved to Mohall, ND where she attended grade school.
In 1948 they moved to Yakima and she attended Franklin Junior High School, graduating from Yakima Senior (Davis) High in 1953. That fall she met Vern Peterson who became her husband in 1956. During their 54 years of marriage, she gave birth to five children and became a stay at home mom. While in her working years she was a bank teller, cashier, partner in the printing firm owned by her husband and his family and ultimately retired from Yakima Valley Community College.
She particularly enjoyed spending time with their children’s families, traveling and especially special trips to Canada and Maui, Hawaii.
She is survived by her husband Vern Peterson of Yakima; daughter, Cynthia (Dr. Dale Todd) of Marysville, son Ron (Alisa) Peterson of Bellevue, daughter Linda (Russ) of Yakima, son Douglas of Spokane and son David (Julie) Peterson of Mill Creek; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. Concluding services and burial will follow at Tahoma Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Keith & Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel.
