Stig was born on April 20, 1947 in Oslo, Norway and was adopted by Christian Stephansen and Anne Louise Oftedal. After the passing of his parents following WWII, he moved to the U.S.A. to live with his sister, Jorunn. Stig joined the Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam, and, upon his return, earned his degree in Christian Education & Theology at Seattle Bible College.
Stig was an avid entrepreneur who wore many hats and had many jobs including as a salesman and stockbroker. In 1979, he met Pamela, and they wed in 1981, going on to have two children.
Stig was also a passionate cook and could often be found in the kitchen. His love of cooking and food was one of the things that defined him.
Stig was predeceased by his parents, brother Eric, and sister Jorunn. Stig is survived by: Pamela, his wife; their children, Autumn and Dustin; his children from his first marriage, Alisa, Hans, and Heidi; and seven grandchildren.
