Sue B. Prater

Sue lived in Alabama until the age of 18. She then traveled throughout the country, including Alaska until finally settling in the Northwest. She married Dr. Harry G. Davis (Glen) and they lived Corvallis, Oregon and Fresno, California before moving to Yakima. Although Sue and Glen did not stay married, they remained friends. During this time, Sue worked at JB’s Family Restaurant.

In 1980 Sue married Nealan Prater. They continued to live in Yakima and later managed the Suntides Golf Course restaurant together. They enjoyed vacations to Hawaii and spending time with each other. They also enjoyed hosting many family gatherings, especially during the holidays.

Sue loved her grandchildren. She attended countless dance recitals, band concerts and sporting events, always cheering them on. She liked working outside and sitting for hours in her chair with her dog and cat at her side. She and her daughter Terri were also blessed with many special times together.

Sue is survived by her husband Neal, her daughter Terri Buchanan (Todd), her grandchildren Olivia and Brian, all of Yakima, brother Jacke Barnett (Maxine) of Olympia and a sister Louise Ray (Roger) of Jemison, Alabama, and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents and brother Charles Barnett.

The family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. Brandt, his staff and the staff at Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital. Also, a special thank you to Mark and JoRae Hill for their kindness and support.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home with concluding services at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
