

Sunny Lou Jewett, age 95, of Yakima, Washington, passed away on May 1, 2025. She was born on April 4, 1930, in Bellingham, Washington. Sunny Lou graduated from Bellingham High School and went into nursing training at St. Luke's General Hospital.
She met Frank Jewett while he was a patient in the hospital where she was training and they were married in 1952 and started a family. The family moved from Bellingham to Ellensburg in 1961 where Sunny cared for and raised her children and worked at Central Washington State College. When she retired she moved to Yakima in 1998 to be close to her daughters.
Sunny Lou was known for many hobbies throughout the years, some of which included jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, gardening, reading and she was fond of NASCAR racing.
Sunny Lou is survived by her five children, Jolene Jewett, Donavon Jewett, Leanne Jewett (Bill Zilliox), James Jewett and Theresa Simer (Roy Simer); eight grandchildren, Matthew Jewett, Lane Zilliox, Joseph Jewett, Joshua Jewett, Jarod Jewett, Brian Simer, Cory Simer, and Shanna Jewett Horrocks; ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Frank Jewett and Sean Zilliox. During her retired years she loved her pets almost as much as she loved her children - Charlie, Munchkin and Buddy.
