Born on May 2, 1954, in Yakima, Sue was the beloved daughter of James Hodgins and Patricia “Bean” Chess. She grew up between Yakima and Seattle, graduating from Davis High School in 1973 and later attending Yakima Valley Community College.
In 1988, Sue endured a traumatic accident that changed the course of her life. Against all odds, she spent the next 37 years in skilled nursing home care, embodying resilience and strength. She was a survivor, a fighter, and an inspiration to all who knew her. After a lifetime of trials and perseverance, Sue no longer endures the pain this world brought; she is now at peace in the loving presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sue was preceded in death by her father James Hodgins, her mother Patricia “Bean” Chess, and her brother Danny Hodgins. She is survived by her sons Jeremiah (wife Amber) and Jaime (wife Brandi); her brothers Thomas (wife Beverly) and Jerry (wife Angela); her sister Debbie; and her cherished grandchildren Juliet, Jordan, Jaxxon, Natalie, Alex, Jonah, and Journey. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her memory forward.
She was, above all, a solicitous grandmother, mom, and sister. Her family and friends will remember her for her courage, her love, and her enduring spirit.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Paul Emmans of Selah, the staff at Parkside Nursing Care Center in Union Gap, and the many other caregivers who contributed to Sue’s care over the years.
A memorial service will be held at Keith and Keith Funeral Home on Saturday November 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charity/Organization of your choice in Sue’s honor.
