Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend has left this earth to go dancing with the stars. She was a true sweetheart who died on February 14, 2015 at home in Selah, WA at the age of 84 from pancreatic cancer. Born in Mackay, ID on July 1, 1930 to Eva Marie Cusick (Scott) and O.F. (Jack) Cusick, she was the fourth daughter of five children.
After growing up in Garden Valley, ID and graduating from Boise High School, she received her AA from Boise Junior College in 1950 and continued on to the University of Washington, where she met and married Hal Kensler in 1951. She spent her retirement years working as a File Clerk for the Yakima County District Court. Sylvia lived life to the fullest. She was a strong willed woman, whose faith served her well as she met the trials of life. Loving, kind, compassionate, and having the gift of hospitality, she was surrounded by loving family and friends. Sylvia had dancing feet and was in her element on the dance floor. She was a first class seamstress, a skill that many family and friends benefitted from over the years. Given any new challenge, she would take it on and excel. Always up for an adventure, whether it be a hot air balloon ride or a cruise through the Panama Canal, she loved to see the countryside from every angle.
Family was a priority in her life, sometimes generous to a fault. She was preceded in death by her parents, two older sisters, Wilma Flinn and Dorothy Gonzales, her daughter Pamela Johnson, and her husbands Harold (Hal) Kensler and Richard Ruff. She is survived by her sister Eloise Stemple, brother John Cusick, and three children, Fritzie Kensler (Charles Cadmus), Karma Larsen (Douglas Larsen) and Hans Kensler (Bev Kensler). She was also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.
