Terry Lamonte Morrison Sr.

Terry Lamonte Morrison Sr., 60, of Detroit, Michigan departed this world on October 5, 2025. Born on June 30, 1965, in Yakima, Washington, Terry was the beloved son of the late Linda Marzette. Though his journey began in the Pacific Northwest, his true roots were established in Detroit after his mother’s marriage to David Marzette, where Terry grew up and found lifelong friends, family, and purpose.

A proud graduate of Henry Ford High School, Terry cherished the friendships made there, keeping those connections alive throughout the duration of his life. He met Pamela Morrison, whom he married on September 1, 1991. Together they raised his two daughters from a previous relationship, LaQwayshia and LaShonda, before welcoming their son and his namesake, Terry Morrison II. Though they separated in 1999, their shared devotion to their children endured. In 2000, Terry found love and companionship with Paula Simpson. What began as friendship blossomed into a deep and enduring partnership. For 25 wonderful years, Terry and Paula shared laughter, adventures, and warmth until his final day.

To his loved ones, Terry was the embodiment of humor, resilience, and strength. His laugh could fill a room; his presence anchored his family, and his determination reflected the truest spirit of a Black father—doing whatever it took to provide, protect, and love his family unconditionally. A passionate Detroit Lions fan, Terry loved his city and his team with unshakable loyalty – a true embodiment of Detroit grit. He had a deep appreciation for cars, travel, and, more than anything, family. His resilience was admired by all who knew him, and his laughter was both healing and unforgettable.

Terry is survived by Paula Simpson, Pamela Morrison; his children, LaQwayshia (Shane Jones) Crutchfield, LaShonda (Lucas) Southern, Terry Morrison II; his stepchildren, Bianca Dabney and Alonzo (Tori) Simpson; his stepfather, David Marzette; his sisters, Dana (Michael) Bouknight and Tamika Marzette-Blakeley; grandchildren, Cleo, Rio, DeAndre Jr., Alonzo IV, and Zoelle. Terry leaves behind an enormous group of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harper & Mary Morrison; his mother, Linda Marzette; his aunt, Pamela Lee; his uncle, Perry Morrison; his grandson, Tor’Ron; his brother-in-law, Richard Blakely; and his brother-in-love, Fred “Rick” Moses.

A Celebration of Life in Detroit for Terry will be October 25, 2025, from 3:00PM – 5:00PM at Swanson’s Funeral Home located at 14751 West McNichols Detroit, MI 48235. A repass will follow immediately at CCCF Community Center located at 16254 James Couzens Fwy, Detroit, MI 48221.

Terry’s final wishes were to be buried close to his mother and children.

A graveside service for Terry will be held on November 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at West Hills Memorial Park located at 11800 Douglas Rd Yakima, WA 98908. A repass will follow immediately at Keith & Keith Funeral Home located at 902 W. Yakima Ave, Yakima, WA 98902.
