Theresia Olson went to be with Jesus on Christmas Eve 2010. Theresia Marie Ott was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on January 5, 1918 to Michael Ott and Elizabeth (Kessel) Ott. Theresia is from a family of eight children who were raised in the Dickinson, ND area. Her siblings are Steven, Joseph, Elizabeth, Phillip, Magdalen, Marie and Valentine.
Theresia attended the North Dakota School for the Deaf in Devil’s Lake, ND where she graduated high school in 1940.
After graduation and a stint of employment for the NDSD Superintendent’s household, Theresia came west as did many young persons of the time. Theresia worked at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and enjoyed working in the Maternity Ward to be with the babies. While working at the hospital, Theresia met and then married Helmer John Olson on July 14, 1951. From this marriage are two children, Annette and Donald Olson. Helmer J. Olson preceded his wife Theresia in death on April 29, 1979.
Theresia was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
Theresia will be remembered for her kindness and sweetness to her own and all children. Seeing and interacting with children always made her very happy.
Theresia always assured that her children’s needs were met over her own. One of her main objectives was to be sure that her children were well-educated. She insisted on a Catholic School education for them. Both Annette and Donald attended Catholic School through grade and high school.
Our dear mother will always be deeply loved and will always be missed. It is fitting that she went to be with the angels on Christmas Eve. Our mother is our angel.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Blossom House and then Willow Springs for the excellent care and great kindness they showed to our mother.
