January 16, 2001 – October 7, 2026
Thomas Reece Martin, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend, passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 25. Born on January 16, 2001, to Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Martin and William Eugene “Bill” Martin, Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, perseverance, and memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Above all else, Thomas was a family man. He loved his wife, Jennifer Naomi Martin, and their three children more than he loved himself. He worked tirelessly as a machine operator at Shields Bag & Print, determined to provide for his family and make sure the people he loved were cared for, no matter what it took. His family was his greatest motivation, his proudest accomplishment, and the reason he continued striving to become the best man he could be.
One of the greatest influences on Thomas’s life was his mother, Liz. As a child, one of his favorite things to do was go to the mountains with her. Those trips were special memories that he carried with him throughout his life. He loved spending that time with his mom, he was never fond of doing yard work but he would do it with his mother and talk with her for hours and those conversations are cherished by both Thomas and Liz and as he grew older, he came to admire even more how hard she worked and how much she did for the people she loved. He saw her strength, her determination, and her willingness to work hard, and those qualities left a lasting impression on him.
Thomas believed that being a father meant showing up, and he did just that. He was there for every milestone, every important moment, and every opportunity to make memories with his children. He understood that love was not only found in the big moments, but also in the little things that made life special.
On his days off, Thomas loved playing World of Warcraft with his best friend, JT, and his sister, Lilly He cherished time with his brother Trevor and He really enjoyed playing Minecraft with his son, Michael, and daughter, Mikayla, sharing in their adventures and meeting them in the worlds they loved.
His youngest daughter, Madelynn, was still too young for those games, so Thomas made sure she had her own special time with Daddy by sitting down to play Barbie horse games with her on the Xbox. To him, it did not matter what they played. What mattered was that each of his children felt loved, included, and special. He wanted every one of them to have memories they could hold close for the rest of their lives.
Thomas also treasured the quiet moments with his wife, Jennifer. On his days off, some of his favorite times were spent simply relaxing together in bed, enjoying each other’s company without needing anything more. Those ordinary moments were precious because they were theirs. Their love was built not only on the life they were working toward, but also on the little moments they shared along the way.
Thomas was a loving son, brother, nephew, and grandson who always wanted to make sure his family was taken care of. As a child, one of his favorite memories was riding in the truck with his grandfather, Jim, and stopping to get country-fried steak. He would often talk about those days, carrying the warmth of those memories with him throughout his life.
Another memory he held especially close to his heart was a book his father, Bill, read to him as a child. The words stayed with Thomas long after he grew up, and he dreamed of passing that same love and tradition on to his own children:
“I love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living,
My baby you’ll be.”
Those words represented the kind of father Thomas wanted to be: a father whose love would remain with his children no matter how much time passed. He wanted to give Michael, Mikayla, and Madelynn the same cherished memories, comfort, and unconditional love that had shaped his own childhood.
Thomas also cherished the memories made during summer trips to the park with his best friend JT’s children, Jalen and Ezekiel, and his own children. Those summer days were filled with family, friendship, laughter, and the simple joys of watching the kids play and spending time together. Thomas loved being surrounded by the people closest to him, and those trips were another reminder of how much he valued quality time and making memories with the people he loved. The moments spent together at the park, watching all the kids enjoy themselves while the adults shared in the day, will forever remain treasured memories for those who were there. It was never about doing anything extravagant for Thomas; it was about being together, enjoying life, and creating the kinds of memories that would last a lifetime.
Thomas’s life was also a journey of struggle, growth, faith, and determination. As a young man, he faced personal demons and battled addiction for years. He knew he had made mistakes, and he carried remorse for the decisions he wished he could have changed. But Thomas did not want his past to define the man he became. He wanted to grow, to do better, and to make the people he loved proud of him. He worked hard to change his life and become a better husband, father, son, and man.
Thomas was already working toward becoming a better version of himself when he met Jennifer. Their love and their children gave him an even greater reason to keep going. His family became a source of strength and motivation during the moments when life felt hardest. He kept pictures of his children in his locker at work, where he could look at their faces whenever he felt discouraged and needed a reminder of why he was working so hard. Those pictures reminded him of what mattered most and the future he wanted to build for them.
Thomas was a man of God who wanted to follow His Word and live a life guided by faith. His journey was not without hardship, but he continued striving to grow, learn, and become the man he knew he could be. His story is one of a human being who loved deeply, struggled, tried, and never stopped wanting to make life better for the people who mattered most to him.
Anyone who knew Thomas knew that he had a way of bringing light into a room. He loved making people laugh and smile, and he could find a way to bring humor into even the darkest situations. His presence made an impact wherever he went. He had a gift for lifting spirits, creating laughter, and making moments memorable. His family and friends will forever remember his humor, his determination, his loving heart, and the countless ways he made life brighter.
Thomas’s life was far more than his struggles or his hardships. He was a husband who cherished his wife, a father who showed up for his children, a son who carried childhood memories in his heart, a brother who shared special moments with his sister, and a grandson who never forgot the simple joys of time spent with family. He was a man who wanted to leave the world better than he found it and who worked to become someone his family could be proud of. Though his time here was far too short, the love Thomas gave will not end with his passing.
It will live on in the laughter of his children, the stories his family shares, the games he played with those he loved, the memories of quiet days with his wife, and the traditions he hoped to pass down through generations. His children will grow up knowing that their daddy loved them beyond measure and that they were the reason he kept striving for a better tomorrow.
