Vada L. LaRock of Yakima was welcomed into her forever, heavenly home by her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 19, 2026, at the age of 97 and ½, while at Arbor House. Vada was born January 4th, 1929, at home in Ulysses, Kansas.
Her family moved to Roseburg, OR in 1935 to escape the dust bowl. She attended grade school in Wilbur, OR and graduated from high school in Roseburg in 1946.
Vada heard that Jesus paid for all sin with His blood. She put her faith in Jesus as a 6th grader and grew in that relationship through the years. Now she is in His presence for all eternity.
She attended Warner Bible College in Portland, OR for 3 years, studying Christian education. She then moved to Billings, Montana where she met and married Roy LaRock Jr. on Dec. 17, 1950. They moved to Roseburg, OR in 1951 where Roy accepted a job. Their son, Doug, was born there. In 1957 they moved to Oakland, CA for Roy’s work. Wanting to move back to the Northwest, the family moved to Yakima, WA in 1959.
Vada was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking & baking, and reading. She also volunteered at Doug’s grade school. Vada was a Sunday School teacher at First Church of God for several years and also played the piano there for many years.
In 1979, Vada began working in medical records at Summitview Manor, (Living Care), for 11 years. She also worked at Crescent Convalescent for two years, leaving in 1992.
She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary for 60 years. She and Roy attended West Valley Church for several years. She then attended West Side Church with her son & daughter-in-law while she was able.
Vada is survived by her son Doug (Linda) of Yakima, her youngest sister Velva (Marion) Helton, 5 nieces, and 3 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Agnes, her brother, Vincent, and her husband Roy.
The family appreciates all the loving care Vada received from Avamere at Englewood Heights, and recently from Arbor House and Heartlinks Hospice. They took excellent care of her, especially the last week of her life.
