Valentine Huck died at his home in Terrace Heights on September 11, 2011 after suffering with Parkinson’s for many years. Val was born April 9, 1940 in Yakima, Washington to John and Eva (Dukart) Huck. After graduating from Marquette High School in Yakima, Val joined the Marine Reserves, returning to Yakima to find and marry Kathleen (Hanus) Huck in 1967. He lived and worked for many years in and around Wapato, Washington and operated a small “hobby” farm in Parker Heights while working for Pacific Power and Light. Val was an active member of his parish, St. Peter Claver Church in Wapato, and gave his time to many needs in the community. The Marie-Rose House operated by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary was a special cause for him and he was also active with the local Lions Club, giving many hours planning and working the Wapato Harvest Festival for many years. He will be remembered as an avid hunter and spent many fall and winter days on the hills above and around Rimrock Lake.
Val is preceded in death by his parents and brothers John Huck and Marvin (Pat) Huck and his sister Rose (Fred) Baur. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, children Christopher (Shaughn) Huck, Kevin (Catherine) Huck and Pamela (Cyril) Wolff as well as brothers and sisters Marion (Larry) Hovenkotter, Ralph (Betty) Huck, Sr. Agnes Huck, Ben (Frankie) Huck, Tom (Penny) Huck, Robert (Dom) Huck, and Larry (Pat) Huck.
