He was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Arthur and Mary Lillich.
Vic graduated from St. John’s College in 1954 and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1959. He served parishes Immanuel Lutheran in Alpha, Minnesota, Immanuel Lutheran in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Bethlehem Lutheran in Yakima, Washington. Vic served as visitation pastor for Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Yakima while semi-retired. He served numerous church vacancies in Eastern Washington, Hawaii and with Hispanic Ministries throughout the lower valley. He ministered for more than 50 years. His service also included New Mexico state chaplain, New Mexico and NW districts counselor. Vic assisted in promoting Hispanic ministries and outreach to those living with addictions.
Vic married Joan C. Aselmann on June 9, 1957, in St. Louis, MO. They were blessed with five children, Philip, James, Paul, Rebecca and Lisa. Vic was well loved by many and never met someone that didn’t become a friend. He was passionate about making connections with others, encouraging their spiritual journey and gave unconditional, selfless love. Vic had a lively intelligence and good sense of humor. You often knew where he was at just by his untampered laughter. He enjoyed time with family and friends, camping and various forms of art, especially wood working. Vic readily gave away his pieces of art work. He always believed it was, “better to give than receive”.
Vic was preceded in death by his son, Paul D. Lillich, parents Arthur and Mary Lillich, sister Norma Lueders, brothers Delmar and Wayne Lillich. He is survived by his loving wife Joan, children Philip Lillich (Joey), James Lillich, Rebecca Quesnell (Edward) and Lisa Vickers (Robert). His grandchildren, Victoria and Mikaela; Rachael, Olivia and Matthew; Bethany and Danielle; and Isabella and Ian. His nieces, Jeanne Lillich (Chris), Joyce Schaardt (Larry), Ruth Lamb (Dean) and nephew Glen Lueders. Vic has numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to thank our countless friends for their support, the amazing staff at Summitview Healthcare center for their loving care and Pastor Jack Flachsbart for his devoted friendship and faithfulness.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11AM.
