Virginia was a near neighbor and close friend to my family growing up on Barkley Lake in the hills of Eddyville, Kentucky. She and Al were so kind to us and to our grandfather who also lived close by. Al died suddenly one Christmas morning and it seems we visited with her more after that as she was so sad to have lost such a wonderful husband.  Her son Paul Scriber moved to Tenakee Springs, Alaska  with his wife Sue. Paul has passed away but I think Sue may still live there. Virginia and her family influenced my life in many good ways by being such wonderful neighbors to us and our grandfather. After Al passed away she and my grandfather became closer friends as they lived right next to each other and both shared a love of the abundant wildlife - especially the wild songbirds. Years later I would often spend time with her when visiting my family in Kentucky. After she moved to the state Washington, my husband and I visited her a few times there. She once sent a box of hand knitted to hats to my students to have at the school where I was teaching in White Mountain, Alaska. We still have a few of the hats here at home that our own children wore. She was an extremely talented and generous knitter of blankets, sweaters. and pillows and could create very detailed and complicated patterns. She wrote sweet letters to me from time to time and her yearly Christmas card always bore images of cardinals. Actually her entire home was adorned with those beautiful red birds. I hadn’t heard from her for years since she had moved again but have often thought lovingly of her. I wish the family peace and healing during this time. Virginia was like another grandmother to me and my three younger siblings when we were young and we loved her dearly. She came to our graduations, birthday parties, and to some of our weddings and we always shared some time together during the holidays, especially Christmas Day. Blessings on those missing dear Virginia. 

To all of Virginia's family, 
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. She was a dear lady. I am sure she will be very much missed. You were all so good and supportive of her. We were always happy to see the "clan" at church on Sundays with her in the back row. I hope this does not mean that we won't see you there anymore. You would be sorely missed. 
Your Mom, Mother-in-law, Grandma and Great-Grandma has seen her sunset on this earth but she has gone on to the dawn of better things with our LORD, Jesus Christ.
