Wanda was born in Quawpaw, Oklahoma to Nancy Rather and Walter Atwood on June 8, 1940. She graduated from Highland High School in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Sorenson in April, 1959 where they lived in Tieton; then moved to Selah in 1961.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Terri (Kurt) Barnett and son, Tim (Lauri) Sorenson, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Stan, her parents, Nancy and Walter Atwood, and her brothers Bobby Atwood and Rodney Atwood.
Wanda worked as a bank teller, in the Yakima Police Department Records Department, and did clerical and bookkeeping duties for several businesses until her retirement.
Wanda was never very far from Stan and her greatest enjoyment was having her family together. They enjoyed the mountains, camping, road trips, and playing cards. Wanda enjoyed collecting chipmunks and squirrels.
Wanda will be missed, but is now reunited with her husband and passed loved ones and can rest in peace.
There will be a funeral on Thursday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Keith and Keith Funeral Home in Yakima. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Yakima Union Gospel Mission, Breast Cancer Foundation or American Heart Association or charity of your choice.
