

William Wellington Hughes Jr. passed away peacefully on December 21, 2014 at the age of 81 in Union Gap, Washington. William (Bill) was born on January 10, 1933 in Commerce, Oklahoma to Mary and William Hughes Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, being stationed in Korea 1950-1953.
He married Lavanna Belle (Warner) Hughes on February 18, 1956 in Seattle, WA. Bill was a barber in Yakima, WA for many years before retiring in 2002.
He is survived by his three daughters, Phyllis (Dick) Canham of Yakima, WA., Connie Torres of La Porte, TX., and Kathleen (Mark) LaBree of Yakima, WA. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, Tom and Leonard Hughes, both of Yakima, and four sisters, Joyce Zerr of Yakima, WA., Sue Alexander of Yakima, WA., Darlene Kemp of Clarkston, WA., and Kathy Gallert of Yakima, WA. Bill has 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
In his younger days, Bill enjoyed square dancing and reading Louis L’Amour books.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Hughes, 3 sisters, Johnniemay, Sheryl, and Kathleen, a grandson, Reyes W. Torres, and a great grandson, Tyler LaBree Camacho.
Visitation will be held at Langevin•El Paraíso Funeral Home on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 4 – 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Langevin•El Paraíso Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at West Hills Memorial Park. A potluck reception will be held at Bethel Church of the Nazarene located at 1103 W Mead Ave in Yakima.
