Bill lived his life in Service to God. He was known for his sense of humor and had a smile for everyone. He loved to play card and board games, especially Farkle. He became an avid reader of Westerns during the last few years.
Bill was born to William and Elizabeth Mills in Rudyard, Montana. As a young boy, his family moved to Kingston, WA. He met and married Barbara Jennings in February of 1948. He attended San Jose Bible College around 1952. Bill and Barbara had three children: Evelyn, William (Bill) and Charlie (Fern). They divorced after 10 years.
He was briefly married to Peggy Tarbell. They had 2 children: Amanda and Wendy.
He then married Doris Estes, who had 3 children: Frank, Mike, and Sharron. They had 34 wonderful years together, serving the church and enjoying their garden. He worked at the Port Gamble as a forklift driver. He was very active in Breidablik Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Bill and Doris devoted much of their time to volunteer activities at the church. Doris passed on August 14, 2008.
Bill then moved to be near his son in Selah, and encountered his old friend Eva Liggett. They were married on Christmas Day by Linda’s husband Joel. They enjoyed almost nine years together. Bill and Eva attended Open Heart Baptist Church in Selah. Bill joined the church shortly after Pastor Jim was installed. Dad so enjoyed the pastor and people of the church, especially the potlucks and wonderful events the church holds.
Bill and Eva volunteered at the Ponderosa on the 4th Sunday Service of the month, with their message of salvation and hope. Bill also became a Senior Companion and worked alongside Eva for several years. Eva passed on December 12, 2017.
He is survived by one son Bill, and daughters Charlie, Amanda and Wendy; seven step-children: Mike, Sharron, Dave, Dan, Tom, Linda and Ruth. His daughter Evelyn and step-son Frank are deceased.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Sunday, September 8, at 3 p.m. at Rexford Manor located at 1010 N 34th Ave. in Yakima, WA. Bill loved his Rexford family. Many thanks to all the special people at Rexford that cared for him.
