Wylie G. Mills (Red), 76, left his earthly body Thursday morning, June 23rd, 2016 surrounded by family and friends, to continue his journey heavenward into the arms of Jesus; and to reunite with his parents Cecil and Opal, his dear sister Dixie and little brother Billy. Wylie was born in Miami, Oklahoma on February 25th, 1940 to Cecil L. and Opal E. Mills.
Wylie started his life in Miami, Oklahoma, moving to the Yakima Valley when he was four years old. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Selah where he grew up and learned the value of hard work while working on the family apple farm.
After graduating from Selah High School, Class of 1959, he and a friend were picking apples on the family farm, as they watched a plane fly over they both decided at that moment to join the Air Force. He served in the Air Force for four years as a flight engineer on a C-124 stationed in Japan. During his term of service he was also able to attend college at the University of Alabama. Returning home to Selah in 1964, Wylie began a career in construction.
During this time, Wylie was re-acquainted with classmate Rinda Wimer, who became the love of his life. In 1966, they were married at the Methodist church in Selah where they raised two children and always enjoyed spending time as a family doing activities such as boating, skiing, and traveling. Wylie started his own construction company in 1970, WG Mills Construction. He was a contractor for the next 25 years around the Yakima Valley. Wylie believed in working hard and playing hard. He taught his children the value of hard work and instilled in them honesty and integrity. Wylie loved his family and friends. He had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
Wylie is survived by the love of his life, Rinda A. Mills; his daughter, Melinda A. Fulks (Kevin); his son, Stacy M. Mills (Ryanne “Rybaby”); grandchildren, Travis Pendleton (Kami), Brittany Lompa (Nick), Dane Purdin, Brock Mills, Mark Mills, Bryce Mills, Paul Fulks (Miriam), Gina Dahl (Shawn) and Sharon Fulks; great grandchildren, Brynn Pendleton, Braylee Pendleton, Elena Dahl, and Quinn Lompa.
