Born and raised in Centerport, New York, Alan was a member of the Harborfields HS class of 1978, and graduated from St. Lawrence University in 1982.
Alan enjoyed skiing with friends, sky diving, travel and golf. He was a fun and loving uncle to 13 nieces and nephews.
He spent many years working at Prentiss-Hall text book division where he was responsible for the physical production of college level text books.
In 2017 Alan moved to Maine to improve his medical care and was helped by the fine staff at New England Cancer Specialists.
He is survived by his parents, Lea and Donald Fischer; brothers Dr. Paul Fischer (Susan), Dr. Mark Fischer (Teresa), and Timothy Fischer (Nancy); and sisters Carol Deerwester (Dr. Laurence Schwartz) and Joyce Pardee (Michael), along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 10, 2021 in Yarmouth, Maine.
We are very grateful to the staff of Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for the wonderful compassion and end of life care that Alan received there. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Southern Maine, 390 US Route One, Scarborough, ME 04074.
