Portland – Alice R. Bowman, 89, formerly of Chebeague Island, died August 7, 2011 at the Maine Medical Center. She was born on Chebeague Island on December 5, 1921 the daughter of James W. and Etta Doughty Ross, Sr. She was predeceased by her husband David Bowman. She is survived by her son Stewart A. Townsend and his wife Linda of Portland. She is also survived by her brothers, James W. Ross, Jr. and Richard W. Ross both of Chebeague Island. There will be no visiting hours. A funeral Service will be held on Thursday August 11, 2011 at 12:00 PM (noon) at the Chebeague United Methodist Church, burial will follow in the Chebeague Island Cemetery.
