

Cousins Island - Andy Dolan of Yarmouth, Maine passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on Cousins Island on Sunday, June 15, 2014. He was born on April 18, 1931 and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. His parents, Andrew Patrick Dolan, Sr. – a native of Ireland - and Therese (Zuneska) Dolan, are both now deceased. He is also predeceased by his brother John.
He married his wife of 53 years, Eleanor Evelyn (Burch) Dolan, RN on August 4, 1956. They settled in Enfield, CT and raised a family of five children. He leaves behind Mary; Tim; Margaret and her husband Doug; Kate; Annie and her husband Paul. He also has three grandchildren: Paul Andrew, Emily,
and Eryn.
Andy served his country in the US Navy from 1948 – 1950 and in the US Air Force from 1950 – 1954. He traveled extensively throughout the world serving as a Flight Engineer before he received an Honorable Discharge. He always had a story to tell about his adventures.
Andy worked as a Quality Control Engineer for Pratt and Whitney and Smith and Wesson before relocating to Cousins Island, ME in 1985. He continued to work at Rockwell Industries until his retirement. Since 2003, he was a regular fixture at the local Ace Hardware Store where he worked part-time. He was an excellent carpenter and designed and built furniture for his home, family and friends. He was an avid genealogist and spent countless hours researching his own family tree and the ancestry of his family members.
A lifelong Catholic, Andy was a parishioner and served at Sacred Heart Church in Yarmouth. He was a kind, patient and dedicated family man to his five children and a generous and loving grandfather.
A gathering and celebration of his life will be held on Friday June 20, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at the Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday June 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 326 Main Street, Yarmouth with the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yarmouth. A reception will be held at Sacred Heart Church Hall following the burial.
