FREEPORT - Andrew William Town, 51, of Freeport passed away on May 31, 2014 at Maine Medical Center after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Andy was born on July 21, 1962 in Fitchburg, MA to Hartley and Brenda Town. He will be remembered for his upbeat attitude and making the absolute most of his time with family and friends. It was hard to find Andy without a smile on his face.
Andy spent his childhood years in Cape Elizabeth and was a graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School, class of 1981. He went on to study culinary arts at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute earning his degree in 1984. After several years in various culinary positions Andy was employed by Amato’s Sandwich Shops where he worked for 23 years. A very special thank you to all the folks at Amato’s who helped make Andy’s work life so enjoyable.
He spent many winters in Rangeley enjoying skiing at Saddleback. Summers were endless wiffleball and baseball games on Peaks Island and boating on Casco Bay. As an enthusiastic New England sports fan Andy rarely missed a Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins or Celtics game. During college basketball season it was time to root for Kentucky. Over time he became an avid reader of mystery and crime novels.
