Anita began her professional career as a singer on live radio in Boston during the 1940s. She moved on to musical theater where she met her husband, Joseph. They adopted and raised two sons, John and Chris. First living in NYC, then in NJ, but summer was always in Freeport, ME. Anita and Joe eventually made Freeport their year-round home.
As an eternal optimist, she loved to laugh with family and friends, finding joy in the simplest of things such as spider webs, butterflies, and blooming violets. Never really cared for earwigs or mice.
Sitting under her apple tree, viewing the changing tides, passing boats, and the sights and sounds of children learning to sail were some of the many things that filled her with joy. She loved to garden, watch flowers bloom and encourage birds to land at her feeders. When cooking and sharing meals with friends and family, there was always room for more at her table. A sunrise over Casco Bay, with a good cup of coffee followed by a morning ritual walk across the lawn to the neighbors for a second cup of coffee (with fresh pound cake) were also high on her list.
Anita was a true mentor for her kids and grandchildren. She volunteered at the Clothes Tree/ Freeport Community Services for 35 years, helping the community and making dear friends. Her faith, family and friends meant everything to her.
