Audrey Tufts Tarbox

CUMBERLAND FORESIDE - Audrey “Gwammie” Tufts Tarbox was propelled through life by her faith in God. Sundays were her special day where she could sing out her glory to the Lord. She is a source of light and love who blessed every life she touched. Whether you were a stranger on the street, or a life-time friend, Audrey made you feel like you were her family. Audrey passed away in her home on February 22, 2021 with her beloved husband, Paul Tarbox, by her side. Her passing is a loss to the family and to the community. Her generosity, warmth and compassion were contagious, and she lived her life taking care of those around her. She was a mother, a grandmother, a friend, and a safe haven to many.

A light in the dark, Audrey lived a life of positivity and infectious happiness. She lived by the words she spoke, and always knew the right thing to say just when you needed to hear it most. Audrey carried herself with poise and grace and treated every soul she met with kindness and respect. She spent her time helping others, reading her favorite books, walking on Mackworth Island, basking in the sun at Two Lights, and enjoying a meal at one of the many restaurants where she was an adored regular. She spent her winters escaping the cold of Portland to live on a boat in sunny southern Florida with her husband and furry friends. She spent thirty years serving joy and stories to the community at Down East Village in Yarmouth, where she also met the love of her life, and friends that will last beyond a lifetime.

Whether she was in a leather jacket on the back of a motorcycle cruising down the Kancamagus highway, or in her sun hat voyaging to the Bahamas on her favorite getaway boat, Audrey lived life to the fullest. She made friends everywhere she went and blessed the lives she encountered with her ray of light, positive energy and love.

Her capacity to love was immeasurable; her family being the most important aspect of her life. Audrey’s legacy is carried on by her husband Paul Tarbox; her children, Jeffrey (wife Jan), Lisa, and Shawn Morrison; and an innumerable amount of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends around the world.

Family and Friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Audrey on Friday, March 5th, 2021, at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME 04096 from 3p.m. to 6p.m.

An outdoor celebration of life officiated by her daughter Rev. Lisa Morrison will be held in the spring when the colors are bright, the flowers are blooming, and the world is as beaming and vibrant as Audrey.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue (ygrr.org) in Audrey’s name.
