

Carlyn Elizabeth Legge Crane, 59, of Westbrook, ME died peacefully at home Friday, September 30, 2016. Born in Northfield, Vermont to William R. and Gail Price Legge, Carlyn spent her first 12 years in Norwalk and Darien, CT before her family moved to Cumberland Foreside, ME.
A 1975 graduate of Greely High School in Cumberland, Carlyn earned a degree in accounting from Casco Bay College. She worked for many years in guest reception and as a night auditor at Holiday Inn Downtown Portland, and had long-term positions with the Greater Portland Convention and Visitors’ Bureau and various financial service companies. She was most recently employed by Home Partners as a caregiver.
Carlyn was a voracious reader and avid Country music fan who enjoyed knitting and creating delicious desserts. She also enjoyed vacationing with her husband. A passionate advocate for animal welfare, she volunteered for the feline rescue organization HART in Cumberland and fostered dozens of cats over the years. Her four-footed companions were her family.
Carlyn is survived by her husband of 18 years Steven Crane; her parents Gail and Bill Legge of Yarmouth; and brothers Scott (Sara) Legge of North Yarmouth, Keith Legge of Gray and Charles “Smokey” Wallace of Delano, TN. She is predeceased by a brother, Russell W. Legge.
Carlyn is also survived by her stepson Jason S. Crane of Altamonte Springs, FL; nieces Corrie Legge of New York, NY, Hope Howard of Cumberland and Mandy Wallace of Delano, TN; and nephews Ryan Legge of Falmouth and Nicholas Wallace of Delano, TN. She is mourned by an extended family of numerous young people who lovingly called her “Auntie Carlyn” as well as many close friends and other devoted family members. She is also survived by her seven feline "children."
Friends may call Friday, October 14, 2016 from 5-8pm at Lindquist Funeral Home 1 Mayberry Lane Yarmouth, ME 04096. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11am at The Episcopal Church of St. Mary’s 43 Foreside Road Falmouth, ME 04105.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carlyn’s memory may be made to the animal welfare organization of your choice.
