Catherine Campbell

Cumberland - Catherine Louise (Condon) Campbell, 63, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2018 at her residence. Cathy was born in Lewiston on October 10, 1955, the daughter of Carl and Alice (Dogan) Condon.

Cathy was raised in Freeport, attending Freeport public schools and was a graduate of Freeport High School in 1973. After high school, Cathy attended CMVTI and obtained her LPN degree in 1977. Shortly after receiving her degree, in the mid 70's, Cathy and her best friend Ann set out on a modern day "Thelma and Louise" adventure, road tripping across the United States and making many stops along the way. Cathy and Ann found home in Alaska after their extensive road trip in 1979. After settling in Alaska, Cathy found work as an LPN in a clinical setting. Shortly after Cathy started her career as an LPN, she took a trip back to Maine, where she convinced her future husband Mike to move out to Alaska to join her in her adventure. With no hesitation, Mike quit his job at Street Cycles on November 28, 1981 and packed his bags and his belongs in his truck and drove back to Alaska with Cathy. Cathy continued her education in Alaska, earning her associates in arts from Anchorage Community College; her Bachelors in Business from University of Alaska and in 1994 she earned her Master’s in business administration from Alaska Pacific University.

On September 10, 1983, Cathy and Mike got married at a lodge on Kenai River, spending their honeymoon in Homer, Alaska. Cathy and Mike lived in Anchorage for 15 years before returning back to Maine in the fall of 1996, eventually finding their forever home in Cumberland in 2000.

Cathy and Mike enjoyed long and successful careers which allowed them both to travel together to many destinations. Some of Cathy's other favorite pastimes were hiking (especially in Alaska), boating, skiing, camping, fishing, golfing, she loved to read, history in particular. Cathy also cherished her family gatherings and spending time with her friends.

Cathy is survived by husband, Mike Campbell; her mother, Alice (Dogan) Condon; her brother, Clifford Condon and his wife Nancy; her sister, Cherie (Condon) Gustafson and her husband Asbjorn and their two children.

Cathy was predeceased by her Father, Carl R. Condon; a sister, Cheryl Condon and recently deceased brother, Carl O. Condon.

Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 11-1 P.M. at Lindquist Funeral Home 1 Mayberry Lane Yarmouth, ME. A Celebration of Cathy's life will take place on Sunday at 1 P.M. In honoring Cathy's wishes, a private burial will take place at Burr Cemetery at a later date.
