

Dwight H Spaulding born on May 10, 1921 In Saugus Mass. Passed away peacefully at the Freeport Nursing Home on December 30, 2017. Dwight lived a long healthy life before becoming ill in July. He spent many weeks at The Hawthorn House in Freeport and at Mid Coast Hospital attempting to return home. He was able to return home with help from home Nurses from Chans, lots of loving care from his Daughter Janice, and his Best Friend (Grandson in-law) Tom. He was very fortunate for the people in his life who helped him get his everyday errands done. Janice’s Niece, Tina was always a big help getting him around town, she showed him lots of love and provided him with great company.
Dwight came to Pownal with his Family when he was eight years old. He worked on his Families farm and was known for his hard work. He would walk to School and tend to the woodstove to get the Schoolhouse warm for his Teachers and Classmates. His one luxery was taking his dog fishing on Sundays.
Dwight did very well in School, and graduated from North Yarmouth Academy. He went on to serve in the Navy, where he received an Honorable Discharge. He worked for Eastland Shoe as a leather cutter for many years and also worked for the Town Of Freeport . He offered twelve years of Community service for Freeport Community Services, where he made lots of wonderful Friendships. Dwight enjoyed many sports, including golf, baseball and football. He was a big fan of The Giants.
He Married the love of his life, Norma Spaulding and they spent 55 years together. They loved going to Scarborough Downs and also enjoyed going to Beano. They enjoyed their time with their Friends He continued to go to Winners in Brunswick to bet on the horses after his Wife’s passing in 2009. They had one Child, Janice who they loved very much. He was very proud of his three Grand Children and his Four Great Grandchildren. Dwight loved to share his stories, and his favorite one was when he met Martin Luther King when they were traveling on the same train.
He is survived by his Daughter Janice Jordan and Her Husband Bill Jordan of Pownal, His Grandchildren, Bill Jordan Jr., his wife Donika Jordan and their Son Wyatt Jordan, of Pownal, Ryan Jordan, his Wife Amanda Jordan and their Son Karver Jordan, of Pownal, and Sarah Dube, her Husband Tom Dube and their two Daughters, Eliza Dube and Emma Dube of Topsham.
He is Preceded in death by His Parents, Arthur and Deborah Spaulding, His Brother, Arthur Spaulding Jr, and His Sister, Virginia Cenname.
His Service will be held at Lindquist Funeral Home 1 Mayberry Ln, Yarmouth, ME January 6th, at 10am.
