Elissa Annette (Lisa) Trimble passed away on July 8, 2026 at age 88. She was born on November 19, 1937 in Corning, NY to George and Geraldine (Mallory) Kirby. Lisa and her three sisters were raised in Painted Post, NY. Following graduation from Painted Post High School in 1955, she was employed by the Ingersoll Rand Company until her marriage to James L. Knapp.
Lisa has three children and was a stay-at home Mom to Jim, Kathy, and Tom. After living in several states, the family relocated to Maine and settled in Yarmouth on Cousins Island. After the marriage ended, Lisa was employed as a lantern maker by Heritage Lanterns in Yarmouth.
In 1981, Lisa met Carey M. Trimble, a US Navy retiree, who lived in Brunswick, and two years later, they were married on August 27, 1983. They made their home in the Cousins Island house, which was a warm and welcoming place for their seven adult children and their families. Both Lisa and Carey enjoyed cross-country skiing, canoeing, hiking and being in the mountains, and in 1988 they purchased a Chalet style home in Carrabassett Valley, where they spent most weekends. After retirement they were there for the entire winter.
Lisa loved music and greatly enjoyed playing the piano. For a number of years, she played the organ at the Cousins Island chapel for the summer services and Christmas Eve. Besides spending time with her family, Lisa loved baking, working cross word puzzles, Hallmark movies, figure skating on TV, and chocolate. She was a gifted seamstress and an accomplished cross-stitcher, creating many pieces for family and friends. The trip of her lifetime was three weeks in Norway with Carey. She was also an avid Red Sox fan!
Lisa is survived by her children James L. Knapp of Edgewood, WA, Kathryn Lippincott (Steve) of Valdosta, GA, Thomas Knapp (Julie) of Topsham, ME and Rachel Trimble Corey (Drew) of Waterville, ME, as well as three grandchildren, Colby Knapp, Amanda Chartier (Geoff), and Christopher Davis, three great grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
