Flora Davis Wilson

Portland – Flora Davis Wilson, 91, of South Freeport, Maine died in Portland, on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Maine Medical Center. Flora was born March 23, 1924 in Manchester, NH to Harold and Jennie Davis. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1941 and from Westbrook Junior College two years later. She married Gilbert “Joe” Wilson on April 12, 1945. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together last April.

Flora enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, playing bridge and volunteering. She and Joe both have an enduring connection to Freeport and they were volunteers for many years with Freeport Community Services. Flora especially liked working at the Clothes Tree Thrift Shop.

Family members who will miss her dearly include her husband, Joe; daughter Jane Harwood and husband Bill of Cape Cod; and daughter Nancy Davis and husband Brad of Florida. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Kim Bailer, Tracy Shaw, Peter Harwood, Tammy Shaw and Toni Shaw and 10 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the South Freeport Church UCC on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Flora’s memory to:
