Gail Elizabeth Seabury

Gail was born on November 22, 1950, in Portland Maine, the daughter of the late Marshall Seabury and Mary (Betty) Seabury. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and “buffalo-gal.” After graduating from Yarmouth High School, she went on to study English at the University of Maine. Prior to being diagnosed with MS, Gail worked for Catholic Charities in Portland, holding a variety of positions that each involved helping others in need. Gail was known for being exceptionally bright. She often won at games the family would play at their camp up North. Everyone wanted to be on her team because of her ability to remember facts, dates and trivia. She also was a gifted writer. Many friends recalled saving emails and letters she wrote to them over the years because of her unique way of expressing herself. If you had any encounters with Gail, you probably experienced her witty, dry sense of humor. Throughout her life she found joy in nature, animals, reading, cooking, history, genealogy (she became a member of the Mayflower Society), the proper use of grammar, writing, games (creating special games for her niece and nephew), her camp, the West (making several trips to Yellowstone), her home, her faith, and most of all, her family. She generously shared her knowledge and interests with those she loved.

For those who really knew Gail, the expression ‘still waters run deep’ accurately described her. On the outside she appeared quiet and rarely expressed her thoughts and emotions, but on the inside she was someone who thought and felt deeply about many things.

Gail is survived by her brother David Seabury (wife Janice), sister Martha Seabury, niece Elizabeth Lagasse (husband Jeremy), nephew Michael Seabury (wife Jen), great nephew Alex Stevens (girlfriend Ally Hurdman), great nephew Caleb Moore (wife Brit), and great-great nephew David Moore.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Community Health and Nursing Services for the wonderful in-home care they provided over the past year.

Also, a special thanks to all of Gail’s friends who visited -- and brought chocolates (Gail’s favorite treat).

A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Yarmouth on October 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Please come as you are and share your special memories of Gail with others.
