

Scarborough - George David Ballard, 78, of Cumberland, passed away on January 29, 2011.
He was born in West Enfield, Maine on March 14, 1932, the son of Roger and
Wilma Ballard.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth E. Ballard, of 46 years, his brother Roger Ballard and his sister Thelma Mackenzie.
He is survived by his son David and wife Ruth Ballard of Falmouth, Maine; son Christopher and wife Laura and their children Samuel, Kelsey and Meredith of Falmouth, Maine; and daughter Linda and husband Christopher Livak and their children Natalie and Elizabeth of South Paris, Maine. He is also survived by Fay Bolduc, his fiancée of Cumberland, Maine, his brother Jack Ballard of Pearland, Texas, his sister Hilda Richardson of Portland, Maine and his sister Charlene Hicks of Manton, Michigan.
He was a successful developer and builder and with the help of his wife Ruth established his own company, George D. Ballard Builders Inc. of Falmouth, Maine.
For many years, he and his wife Ruth enjoyed traveling to antique rifle
shows, as he was an avid collector. He also enjoyed music and dancing.
He enjoyed skiing with his family at his first camp near Saddleback Mountain, and later fishing at his camp on Rangeley Lake in Oquossoc, Maine. Most recently he loved to spend summers at his cottage on Sebago Lake, in Windham, Maine. He and Fay enjoyed renovating and spending time with their children, grandchildren, family and friends both at the cottage on Sebago Lake and at home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine. A private burial will be held at Blanchard Cemetery in Falmouth, Maine at a later date.
