

Freeport - Georgia Condon Small, 83, of Freeport died peacefully at home on Saturday January15, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born in Brunswick on February 15, 1927 a daughter of Sara (Temple) and Raymond Condon. On May 15, 1942 she married Glendon “Smally” Small and together they had five children.
Georgia was a dedicated nursery school teacher for 33 years. She served on several Freeport committees including the YMCA, Freeport Community Services, the Red Cross, Suicide Prevention and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. The Freeport Congregational Church was an important part of her life and she was the first appointed Deaconess of the church and establish The Achievers Group. She also assisted with the church’s Couples and Singles program.
Georgia lived a life of generosity, kindness and love for others. She had the gift of hospitality and this was marked by the presence of “always having someone living there”. She had a cheerful spirit and forthrightness. Georgia will be remembered as someone who was always present without being intrusive. Georgia created a home for her husband and children that invited others to belong and become a part of her family with open arms. Dinner was always at home.
Georgia is survived by her five children: Robert Garcia and his wife Donna of Florida; Clinton Small and his wife Brenda of Topsham; Glendon Scott and his wife Ronnie of Freeport; Susanellen Stearns and her husband Cody of Freeport; Rhonda Small of Freeport; her nine grandchildren: Travis and Adrienne Small; Jason and Noel Small; Kevin Egers and his partner Kevin LaPointe; Sarah and Matthew Williams; Krista Cameron; Brandon Stearns; Fawn and Todd Mercer; Gina and Shawn Rhoda; Scottie Ann Small; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Glendon who died in 1992 and two sisters and four brothers.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday January 18, 2011 from 4 – 7 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, ME. A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday January 19 2:00 PM at First Parish Church Congregational, 40 Main Street, Freeport. A reception will follow in the church hall.
