Yarmouth - Gloria Jean Sylvester of Yarmouth, Maine passed away unexpectedly Wednesday December 5, 2012. She was born in Portland, Maine on June 21, 1941, the daughter of Charlotte A. Pritchard and Richard E. Brown, Sr. Gloria was married to Norman H. Sylvester, Jr. for 52 years. Gloria was the mother of three beautiful daughters and nana to five wonderful grandchildren.
Her joys in life were her husband, children and grandchildren, extended family and many friends. She loved impromptu get-togethers, cook-outs, and Sunday family dinners. With Gloria, it was the more, the merrier and her house was often filled with family and friends.
Gloria loved children most of all. As the oldest of seven children, she spent her entire life caring for little ones and was happiest when holding a baby in her arms.
She most enjoyed the time she spent at Popham Beach reading, taking long walks on the beach, hunting for sand dollars and reconnecting with friends each summer.
Gloria was generous and caring, always putting the needs of others first. This was apparent most of all during Christmas time which was Gloria's favorite time of year. She loved buying gifts for those she loved and got pure enjoyment from watching the children open their gifts.
She is known as Nana and Aunt Gloria not only to family, but also to everyone throughout her community, both young and old alike.
