

Yarmouth-Gordon Stanley “Scottie” Oliver, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025 in Portland. The son of Stanley and Violet (MacKinnon) Oliver, he was born at home in Yarmouth on October 10, 1935. He started first grade at the #9 School directly across the street from his home.
Gordon played baseball and basketball though Junior High and then at North Yarmouth Academy in high school class of 1954. He played semi-pro baseball for the Yarmouth Townies.
He worked in sales first selling cigarettes and cigars and then wine for Cumberland and York Distributors until his retirement.
Golfing was his passion, and he belonged to the Brunswick Golf Club for over 50 years where he had 4 holes in one. In 1968 he was the left hander champion for the state of Maine.
He was proud to be a longtime blood donor to the American Red Cross.
Gordon is survived by his wife Judith Stiles Oliver, 0f 70 years, his two sons Michael, and Gordon Matthew (Laurie) and his daughter Betsy Broomhall (Alan), his five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Brenda Kern (James) and Geraldine Oliver.
Gordon’s family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital and to Josh and Sue at Maine Nephrology for “keeping him on the right side of the room”.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 4-6 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
