North Yarmouth- James “Jamie” Ernest Town, 64, of North Yarmouth, Maine passed away on August 15, 2025. Jamie was born on January 20, 1961, in Melrose, Massachusetts. He was the son of Brenda M. (Dennison) Town and the late Hartley D. Town of Freeport, Maine. Jamie was predeceased by his brother Andrew of Freeport.
Jamie graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1979 where he excelled in both academics and sports with his baseball team winning the state championship. Jamie attended Colby College, graduating from there in 1984. Jamie’s career began in sales at The Winter Company, guided by his mentor and family friend Lou Chabot. Jamie was an expert in the sale of building materials including doors and windows. With that acquired expertise, he led the building of two beautiful homes over his lifetime for his family with the assistance of his wife Ann.
In 1988 he married Ann Denise Dufresne. Together they raised two children, Dylan Town of Durham and Cassidy Town of North Yarmouth.
Jamie loved carving some good turns at Sugarloaf in the winter and come summer he liked to golf and boat around Casco Bay with family and friends. He enjoyed biking, reading, watching sports, and listening to music. He especially enjoyed lobster bakes at his family’s Peaks Island home, and spending time with family and friends. He was a man of few words but was notorious for his witty sense of humor.
Brewer South Freeport Marine was Jamie’s special place where he enjoyed boating for over fifteen years. Thanks to everyone there who made Jamie’s last years on his boat so enjoyable. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Southern Maine and North Yarmouth Fire & Rescue, who assisted us on so many occasions and gave us tremendous support.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Service on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11 AM at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Maybery Lane, Yarmouth. A celebration of life reception will follow the service at the funeral home. The Service is casual, no suits and colorful attire preferred. It is our hope that anyone who would like to share a story, a memory, a joke can do so at this time. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to North Yarmouth Fire & Rescue.
