

Brunswick - Jean Theriault Madigan, 69, of Freeport died Saturday July 16, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Jean was the daughter of Ida Dufour Theriault and John B. Theriault. Born February 15, 1942 in Caribou, she was the second of seven children. She attended Mattawamkeag Academy before working for many years in the hospitality industry in Portland, Cape Cod, Florida and Hawaii. She enjoyed her work and the many friends she made.
After her marriage to J. David Madigan in 1967, she devoted her life to her four daughters: Laura Madigan McCown of Oakland, Maureen Madigan of Lyndhurst, NJ, Katherine Madigan Hyslop of Palm Beach, FL and Aimee Madigan Hart of Scarborough. After her children were grown she worked as a receptionist and more recently in customer service for LL Bean, until her retirement in 2010.
Jean volunteered through her parish, St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Freeport, for a local soup kitchen and at the Freeport Community Center.
Besides her daughters, Jean is survived by two sisters, Hilda of Portland and Barbara of Newport, NH, two brothers John and James of Claremont, NH and seven grandchildren, Adam, Alexandra, Andrew, Katherine, Ryan, Marielle and Colton. Besides her parents, Jean is predeceased by two sisters; Andrea Bryan and Rina Theriault.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday July 19, 2011 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30a.m. on Wednesday July 20, 2011 at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, corner of Main and School Street, Freeport.
