Born in Millinocket, Marianne attended Brewer High School graduating in 1979 and the University of Maine in Orono graduating in 1981 with a degree in business merchandising. She went on to raise three beautiful daughters and was very proud to be a stay-at-home mother and wife tending to all her family needs.
In August of 2019, Marianne married Walter Purda of Yarmouth. They were made for each other and together they embarked on a magical journey of true love that took them to getaways including tropical islands, Florida, and frequent stays in Boothbay Harbor and at their camp in West Carry Pond.
Marianne's energy, striking smile and outgoing personality allowed her to make many friendships and strong lasting relationships. Her ability to create fun and laughter in any setting was very special.
Marianne had a way of lighting up every room she walked into. To know her was to love her.
She is survived by her husband Walter Purda of Yarmouth, daughters Jennafer Gould of Paris Kentucky, Mallory Chapman and her husband Christopher Chapman of Old Orchard Beach, her parents Wendall and Christine McNally of Westbrook, brothers David McNally and wife Linda of Brewer, Jeff McNally and wife Kathy of Raymond, and Micheal McNally of Westbrook. Marianne treasured her family, including her many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Marianne was predeceased by her daughter Kristen Gould and close cousin, Frances Butler.
Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Leslie Bradford and her Oncology team, as well as the entire Cancer Care and IV Therapy Department at the Maine Health Cancer Center in Scarborough.
Additionally, we would like to thank all the hospice home health care nurses and the entire staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice. Their personalized attention to Marianne's comfort and ease of pain was truly remarkable. Because of their compassion and dedication, our world is a better place.
Funeral arrangements will be private based on the wishes of Marianne. Online condolences may be expressed and read on the Linquist Funeral Home website (Yarmouth, ME).
Marianne will be loved and missed forever.
