March 16th, 1921 – May 16th, 2011
Cumberland Foreside - Marion Louise “Mame” (Jacklin) Frye, age 90, lifetime resident of Yarmouth, Maine, went home to her Maker on May 16th, 2011 after an extended illness.
She was born on March 16th, 1921 in Yarmouth, Maine, daughter to the late William Hastings and Lucy Earl (Ruby) Jacklin. She graduated from North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth, Maine. At the age of nineteen, on December 19th, 1940, she married Ernest Clifton Frye, Jr., of Cumberland, Maine.
Mrs. Frye was a member of the Eastern Star in her younger years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Yarmouth. Marion was an avid game player…cards and all kinds of competitive table games. Saturday night bean suppers with Bingo were normal outings for her over the weekends. She was a very social woman who loved attending social gatherings, but even more so…hosting and entertaining others herself. She was an excellent cook (receiving the award for Maine’s winning custard pie) and she enjoyed passing her recipes along to her daughter-in-law, granddaughter and niece. Marion had a wonderful sense of humor. Most importantly though, she was a very dedicated Christ-follower and knew where she was going for certain upon her departure from this earth.
Marion is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Ernest C. Frye, Jr., in March of 1988. She is survived by her only child…son, Ernest William Frye of Ashland, Massachusetts and his wife, Randa R. (Keith) Frye, her only grand-children, Deryck Clifton Frye (his wife Stacy Frye) and Ginelle Ruth Payne (her husband David Payne), both of Massachusetts and seven great grand-children, Devon Frye, Mallory Frye, Ashton Payne, Madison Frye, Kelsie Payne, Morgan Frye and Dakota Payne, all of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her loving sister Evelyn Lucy Stoddard and her brother William Hastings Jacklin, Jr., both of Maine, and her nieces, Claire (Jacklin) Walchinsky of Pennsylvania, Mary Jane Curit of Maine and a nephew, Craig Stoddard, also of Maine. Then too, she is survived by many, many friends who loved her and cherished her for her friendship, kindness and servitude. Although Marion had only one biological child, she was a ‘mother to many’.
On Friday, May 20th, at 2 o’clock there will be a service honoring Marion’s life, held at the First Baptist Church of Yarmouth, 346 Main Street, Yarmouth, Maine. Flowers may be sent to Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane., Yarmouth.
