

AUBURN -- Marjorie C. (Westcott) Anderson, 84, of Poland and formerly of Yarmouth, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at Clover Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Leland S. Anderson Jr. who died in 1997.
Marjorie was born on July 1, 1925 in Boston, Mass., the only daughter of John A. & Marjorie (Mullhaney) Westcott. She grew up in the Boston area, attending local area schools and graduating from Notre Dame Academy as a member of the class of 1943. She then went on to become a nurse cadet and was educated and trained at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.
She met her future husband Leland S. Anderson while they were both serving in the armed forces in New York City. They were married on May 24, 1947 and moved to Yarmouth, where they would spend the rest of their lives together.
Marjorie worked at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth for 15 years before retiring as the Director of Nursing.
Marjorie and her husband were communicants of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yarmouth. She was very active in the parish for some 58 years before moving to Poland with her daughter. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed knitting, reading and quilting but most of all she loved spending time with her very large family and her friends.
She is survived by her nine children, Leland S. Anderson III and Jan Desmarais of Freeport, Jeanne Wright and her husband Brian of Poland, Peggy McKeone and her husband Robert of Flowery Branch, Ga., Clifford Anderson and his wife Dorothy of Poland, Glenn Anderson and his wife Vicki-Lyn of Lyman, Joel Anderson and Ann Gagne of Poland, Posy Gillespie and her husband Kevin of Casco, Jamie Anderson and Cathy Jones of Raymond and Matthew Anderson and his wife Whitney of Freeport. She also leaves 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, June 21, 2010, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
Prayers will be recited on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main Street, Yarmouth with Rev. Raymond Picard and Rev. James Knox concelebrating.
Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yarmouth.
