Yarmouth - Marjorie G. Dunbar, 86, of Yarmouth, Maine, passed away in Auburn, at 12:06 am on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from a brief illness.

She was born in Manchester, NH on December 26, 1926 to William W. and Catherine Grossman. She graduated from Manchester High School Central and Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Brookline, MA. She worked as a secretary at New Hampshire Fire Insurance Company.

She married Richard M. Dunbar in 1950 and moved to Bedford, N.H. She and her husband moved to Cumberland Center, Maine in 1976 when he was transferred by his company. In 1986 he retired and they moved to Yarmouth, Maine.

Marjorie enjoyed quilting and being a part of Calico Quilt Group. She was always reading books, doing puzzles, lunching with friends, and especially loved having her grandchildren around her. She served on the Royal Mariner Estate Board of Directors.

Mrs. Dunbar’s husband passed away in 1994 after 43 years of marriage. A brother, Richard P. Grossman and brother-in-law, Henry A. Strater also pre-deceased her.

Surviving Marjorie is a son, Alan M. Dunbar of Valdosta, GA; daughter Tracy Anne Poole and husband Edward of Yarmouth, ME; sister Lillian M. Strater of Cleveland, OH; sister-in-law M. Noel Grossman of Concord, NH; granddaughter Crystal A. Hincks and husband Matt of Topsham, ME; grandsons Brandon J. Wyman and wife Carrie of Fort Lewis, WA; Zachary T. Poole and wife Jaclyn of Fort Gordon, GA; Alec R. Poole of Yarmouth, ME; great-granddaughter Allie A. Wyman; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of Marjorie’s life this Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 2 pm at the home of Tracy & Ed Poole. Please call 239-9433 for more information.
