Yarmouth, Maine – Mark Robert Storms, 81, of Yarmouth, Maine passed away at home on August 22, 2025. Mark was born November 27, 1943 in Houlton, Maine, the fourth child of the Reverend Martin Storms and Grace (McKusick) Storms.
Mark attended schools in Yarmouth and graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1962. He later graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelors degree and the University of Detroit with a Masters degree in history. Upon returning to Maine from Michigan he started his career with Portland News Company, working his way up through various positions to the role of Operations Manager. His career was the foundation for so many of his very special friendships.
Over the years, Mark enjoyed bringing smiles to friends and strangers alike by sharing vegetables, flowers and blueberries from his incredible gardens and passing out candy canes at Christmas when donning his infamous Santa hat and big red parka. He will be forever remembered for his great advice, his warm smile, sparkling eyes and wonderfully warm huge hugs. But most of all, he will be remembered for the unconditional love he had for all his family and his many dear friends. While he lived in Yarmouth for most of his life, his family farm in Parkman, ME truly defined the meaning of “home” for Mark.
Mark met his soulmate Debbie (Deborah Anne LeClaire) at Yarmouth High School in 1961. After 30 years apart raising their separate families, they reunited and celebrated over 32 years of loving marriage. Mark is survived by Debbie, son Dirck Storms, daughter Rachel Hutter (Bryon), stepchildren Jaye-Allison Nunan and Richard Nunan, grandsons Brock Storms, Ethan Hutter, Brendan (Megan), Evan, Collin and Justin Winkel and granddaughter Lily Hutter, four great grandchildren and many cherished nieces and nephews.
