Ned Pennoyer, 30, of Yarmouth, Maine, died by suicide on September 22, 2026, after years of meeting difficult challenges with determination. His early experiences in sports helped him build lasting friendships and discover a passion for health and personal training. A loving and caring young man with a warm sense of humor, Ned made a positive difference in the lives of the many people who knew him.
Ned lived in Yarmouth his entire life. He attended Merriconeag Waldorf School, now Maine Coast Waldorf School, and then the Aucocisco School before entering Yarmouth public schools in middle school and continuing through high school. He was in his element on the playing fields and courts, beginning with Little League baseball and later taking up youth football and basketball. High school football and weight training transformed him from a skinny child into a muscular young man and inspired his goal of becoming a personal trainer.
After high school, Ned attended the University of Southern Maine and Southern Maine Community College and worked part-time at the local Hannaford while studying to become a certified personal trainer. Ultimately, he began working with clients at Hurt and Co. Physical Therapy & Barbell Club in Scarborough in 2023. He was a very dedicated and thoughtful trainer who kept it light with his humor developing individual programs to meet the needs and goals of his clients that even included his parents, sister and aunt.
Ned deeply loved his dogs and was a devoted pet owner. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and training and sparring in mixed martial arts with the group at First Class Fitness & Mixed Martial Arts in Fort Andross in Brunswick.
Ned is survived by his parents, Grant and Susan Pennoyer; his sister, Evelyn Bricker, and brother-in-law, Ben Bricker; his grandmother, Sharon Blatchford; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Pennoyer, Blatchford, Endrizzi, Eyermann, Hantho, Jetti and Lynch families.
A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11am at the First Parish Church of Yarmouth, 116 Main St. Yarmouth, Maine. Dress is casual to fit with Ned’s preferred style.
