Yarmouth - Norman F. Hall, 77, of Freeport passed away on Sunday August 24, 2014 with his daughter at his side. He was born on August 20, 1937 in Portland, a son of Mary (Adair) and Arthur Hall. He attended local schools, graduated from Portland High School and attended UMPG. He had the good fortune to meet Carol Ann Donley while they were working for Northeast Airlines and they were married on May 14, 1960.
Norm was “nuts” about airplanes since birth, so much so, he worked over 50 years in the airline industry, 40 of them with Delta. He and Carol loved to travel and they did so extensively. He was a big technology fan, kept up with innovations and was the “go to guy” in the family (even for the grandchildren) when “geeky” help was needed. Norm was also a great sports fan watching hockey, the Red Sox, but nothing gave him greater pleasure and satisfaction than being on the sidelines watching and cheering his grandchildren or anything else having to do with them.
Norm was an active member of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church in Falmouth. He also had a small tax business for many years. He had the trait of Yankee ingenuity and resourcefulness that he readily shared and taught his family. Norm will be remembered as one half of a one of a kind couple who unwittingly served as role models for others. Norm’s welcoming, supportive and positive personality made him “easy to lean on”. Throw in a keen wit, his appreciation and gratitude for any little thing done and here is a man who is very much loved by those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his three children: son Mike Hall and his wife Leona of Pownal; son Dave Hall and his wife Patty of Sutton, MA; daughter Barb Brown and her husband Mike of Freeport; eight grandchildren: Andy and Erin Hall; Daniel, Rachel, Sarah and Monica Hall; Alan and Jen Brown; his brother John Hall and his wife Mary of Westbrook; as well as a large extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife Carol in 2008.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 26, 2014 from 4 – 7 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 27 at 12 noon at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery in Yarmouth.
