Paul Edward Donovan, 62, of Yarmouth, Maine, passed away on July 18, 2025. Born August 15, 1962, in Oceanside, New York, Paul was the youngest of six sons to Beatrice and Stanley Donovan. Growing up on Long Island, he developed a deep love for the sea, spending his early years fishing and obtaining his first boat alongside his brother by the age of ten.
Paul’s sharp analytical mind and remarkable intuition shaped his impressive career. After graduating from Stony Brook University, he began his journey as a Field Service Engineer with Applied Materials, a global leader in semiconductor equipment. Paul’s expertise took him around the world—from Scotland to South Korea and Israel—supporting advancements that power our modern technology. During the Gulf War, Paul played a vital role producing chips for Raytheon’s Patriot missiles, earning a reputation as a top troubleshooter who was always called upon for the toughest challenges. His quick wit and practical advice were legendary, his first troubleshooting question often being, “Is it plugged in?”
Most recently, Paul worked for Texas Instruments, mentoring the next generation of engineers and dedicating countless hours to advancing manufacturing and robotics. His directness, loyalty, and scientific curiosity left a mark on all who worked with him.
In 2008, Paul married Lori, and their daughter Kyley joined them in 2009. Family life in Maine was Paul’s greatest happy place—he was never more at home than when captaining his boat on Casco Bay, fishing, or cheering on Kyley at her theater, dance, and musical performances.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, August 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, with a service following at 3:00 PM.
“Picture a wave. In the ocean. You can see it, measure it, its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it’s there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It’s a wave. And then it crashes in the shore and it’s gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while”.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the following organizations in Paul’s name would be appreciated.
