Phyllis married the love of her life lifeguard, Richard, in June 1959 and soon became a devoted mother to four very active boys, all under the age of 6 in Sudbury, Massachusetts. After moving to Cumberland Maine in 1976, she quickly realized she loved the new countryside, beaches and people and it didn’t take long for her to consider herself a true Mainer. In 1988, she and Richard moved to Bailey Island (on Cedar Beach) where they hosted endless barbeques, volleyball matches and guitar singalongs (led by her very talented boys), creating endless memories and experiences. In 2001 they built their dream retirement home on Marco Island where they enjoyed lots of visits from their children and grandchildren.
Phyllis devoted her life to her family, always putting her husband and children before herself. She worked hard to support them, waitressing at DiMillos and working retail at LL Bean while raising four children. She loved walking for miles along Maine’s beaches and taking rides through the countryside and along the coast with her husband. Phyllis was an avid and talented artist, painting in acrylic beautiful favorite nature scenes and especially seascapes.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Perry; her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Ken Cassidy; and her three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Lori Perry, Craig and Pam Perry, and John and Pam Perry. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael Perry; her brother, Paul Bourgeois; and her sister, Jeanne LeFort. She also had six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nephews, grandniece and grandnephews.
Phyllis will be remembered and truly missed for her infectious smile, selfless nature, gentle spirit, and the deep love she shared with all who knew her.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at Lindquist Funeral Home in Yarmouth, Maine, on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Visiting hours will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m.
