
Portland – Richard Morton Jensen, 72, of Cumberland died September 17, 2012 at Maine Medical Center after four years of declining health. He was born in Portland on January 15, 1940, a son of Frederick and Christine (Gorwood) Jensen.
Dick was educated in Portland schools, graduated from Deering High School, Class of 1958, graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and served in the US Navy, mostly as a navigator. He retired as a LCDR after a 22 year career and the family moved to Cumberland. He then worked as a letter carrier in Portland for the US Post Office.
Dick truly enjoyed the outdoors. He planted an apple orchard, enthusiastically rode his motorcycle until it snowed and then hopped on his snowmobile for the winter.
Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol (Chapman) Jensen; his son Scott Jensen and his wife Deborah; his granddaughter Amanda Smith; his great-granddaughter Giamae Smith; his brother Frederick Jensen and his wife Darlene; and his niece Stacey Jensen.
