

Cumberland Foreside, ME - Robert (Bob) D. Miller, 89, of Cumberland Foreside passed away peacefully at his home on November 1, 2014.
Bob was born on February 15, 1925 in Narberth, PA to Albert and Maude Miller. In 1943 he graduated from Lower Merion High School and immediately joined the Army serving in the 11th Engineer Combat Battalion. After the war, he attended Amherst College, during this time he met his wife, Sally Wilford, whom he married in 1949. Bob graduated from Amherst College in 1950 and went on to attend the Wharton School of Business.
The majority of his career was spent in the financial services industry working for NASD and Fidelity Investments. After leaving the corporate world, he and Sally owned a Kwik Kopy printing business for 8 years in Norwell, MA. In 1988 he retired and moved from Hingham, MA to Casco, ME. He later moved to Cumberland Foreside in 2006.
Bob had many interests during his lifetime, including gardening, traveling, singing, photography bird watching and attending his grandchildren’s music and sporting activities. He particularly enjoyed fishing on Thompson Lake and Casco Bay with his family.
With a deep love for nature, Bob was a Master Gardener and greatly enjoyed gardening throughout his life, most recently at the Yarmouth Community Garden. He was interested in organic gardening long before it became so popular. In his retirement he served as a volunteer at the Maine Audubon in Falmouth, and was an officer of the Loon Echo Land Trust.
Bob was also an active member in the Congregational Churches in both Casco and Yarmouth. A kind, gentle man, he was full of life and compassion for family, friends, and animals. He will be greatly missed.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Sally Miller. They had four children: Virginia Miller of North Bethesda, MD; Carrie Federici and her husband Louis of Guilford, CT; David Miller (deceased) and Ken Miller and his wife Nancy Baker Miller of Yarmouth, ME; six loving grandchildren: Katelyn Miller, Jonathan Miller, Samuel Miller, Christopher Federici, Robert Federici and Allison Federici.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 116 Main St., Yarmouth, ME on Saturday November 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hingham, MA at a later date.
